Introduction: Downtown Style Finds

With the holiday season just around the corner, I’m here to help style your life and make holiday shopping easier. Stay tuned on December 1, 2010, for my regular posts about my favorite things you can find in downtown.

As a native Calgarian, I remember the Saturday shop dates downtown with my grandmother, mother and sister. It was a regular outing to shop at our favourite stores like The Hudson’s Bay Company, Dalmys, Strawberry Experiment and Suzy Creamcheese. My mother would always make sure her girls arrived in style with curls in our hair and outfits that matched from head to toe. Those shopping trips influenced who I am today.

Now, most of my days are spent in the core. With the recent opening of our studio, Gorgeous, located in Fashion Central, I often stare at the exposed brick walls and think about how my grandparents/parents may have stood in this exact spot, many times. Even though Calgary is viewed as such a young city, I can’t help but feel the history and dreams of so many who have helped make it what it is today. We’re all grown up and it’s time to celebrate.

Shopping is what I do for a living. Styling people is what I do to fulfill my passion. Combine the two and you get Studio Gorgeous. My goal is to redefine the way we shop and bring out the best in my clients. My mission is for the people of Calgary to make Canada’s best dressed/styled list, although the weather is often a challenge.
