How much litter can you (and your team) pick up in 20 minutes? One block’s worth? Two? Find out at the 20 Minute Makeover on June 8, 2011. It’s an opportunity for all Calgarians to pitch in and help tidy our city. Plus, you can help out during your lunch break.
Participants are asked to reuse their own plastic bags from home to collect litter, or to pick up gloves and GLAD garbage bags from either the Central or Memorial Park Public Library. Cleaning kits will also be distributed via:
- Centre Street CTrain platform: May 30 – June 3
- With the morning edition of METRO at 7th Avenue SW: June 6 – 8.
- By GLAD hosts at CTrain stations along 7th Avenue SW: June 6 – 8.
- During the Mayor’s Environmental Expo at Calgary City Hall, Municipal Building Atrium: June 7 – 9, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
On June 8, following 20 minutes of cleaning, participants are asked to dispose of their garbage bags next to existing garbage cans located throughout the Centre City or in their own black bins. If public garbage cans are full, people are asked to call 3-1-1.
