Perhaps party is not the correct word, but acoustic guitars and cowboys are not normally a common occurrence on the C-Train in March.
A new public art has been unveiled in downtown Calgary and it drew a small crowd of media, city representatives and fans. Featuring the lyrics of famed Canadian singer Ian Tyson’s song ‘Land of Shining Mountains’ the new work acts as a bookend for Calgary’s downtown LRT line. What was once a utility building is now an interesting work of art, celebrating our heritage and honouring one of Calgary’s finest musicians. The entire event was accompanied by acoustic performances by Tim Hus and Chris Gheran, both on and off the train. Once all the construction is complete, the lyrics will stand as one of the centre-pieces of the recently renovated 7th avenue C-Train line.
