One of Downtown Calgary’s most unique dining fixtures has to be the River Café. Decked out like an old fashioned fishing lodge, and making it’s home on the beautiful Prince’s Island Park, the River Café is in a league of it’s own in the Calgary culinary community. Some were worried that June’s floods would put the River Café under, but they are back and better than ever!
If the décor and location weren’t enough, the locally inspired food and wine make the River Café really worth talking about.
River Café proudly serves dishes featuring Bite Grass Fed Beef and Olson’s High Country Bison, both of which are locally sourced and sustainably raised products. What’s fresher than eating meat that was raised (almost) literally in your own backyard?
In addition to the amazingly fresh and interesting ingredients the River Café uses, the restaurant is host to a number of interesting culinary events through the year.
The River Café has hosted culinary events as a part of The Big Taste, as well as many of their own events featuring celebrity chefs flown in from around the world.
Last by definitely not least, the River Café is a great spot for your next event. Thinking about a summer wedding? The River Café will make your special day one you’ll never forget, and Prince’s Island Park is a great spot for photos.
The River Café is open year-round (although they close for January) so why not see what this downtown gem has to offer?
