The best handmade gift I have received was a stained glass piece from my grandma.
Best handmade gift: neighbor’s rum cake!
‘Best’ homemade gift: macaroni and popcicle stick photo frame.
When we were short on money, for a Valentine’s present one year, my husband went to a dollar store and bought a tacky gold candle holder. He then hole punched construction paper and glued it to the glass on the holder. It was the best/worst (as in ugly) present he ever gave me! We still laugh about it almost 15 years later.
The best handmade gift I’ve ever received is a picture frame from my Mother. She had visited me in Vancouver and picked up little shells and such. A year later she gave me the beautiful handmade picture frame (built, painted etc) and had adorned it with the keepsakes she got from her trip. It holds a photo of my Mom and I from her trip! As I don’t live in Vancouver anymore, (yay Calgary!) it is a wonderful reminder of life there and her fun visit!
The best handmade gift I have got is a long and cozy scarf knitted by my mom!
The best handmade gift I received was from one of my students. She hand painted a little wooden box and filled it with a little bag of goldfish crackers because we used to joke about how much she loved those crackers.
My mom put together some of my grandmother’s crocheted doilies to make a beautiful runner. What a special treasure.
a painting : )
After a hiatus lasting years, I started knitting again this fall. For a friend’s birthday last week, I knit her a forest green headband. After wrapping it, I was looking back at old photos of the two of us to realize with dismay that she already owned a (much more stylish) dark green headband! However upon receiving it, my friend said my homemade one was much more cozy and proceeded to wear it all that evening.
Thank you for the opportunity to win tickets!
The day I was born my grandmother gave me a sock monkey she’d made, complete with a little velvet dress. I slept with that monkey every day for most of my life, until no amount of repairs could keep her from falling completely to pieces. Now she sits on a shelf over my dresser, and still brings comfort, even from up there! I can’t think of any other present that’s lasted over 30 years..
Best homemade gift — the year I left home for University my aunt gave me a box of Christmas baking with hand written recipes for her traditional treats. The starving student loved the baking and I still use the recipes with my own kids during the holidays.
My daughter treated us to a trip to New York City for Mother’s. Day and made my a wonderful album with pictures of us on our trip……..I just love looking through the pictures
