The new year means a whole new season of awesome events, workshops, and programs at the central branch of the Calgary Public Library.
Staring on January 16th, the library is once again offering their ‘Thursday Afternoon at the Movies‘ series. There is no registration required for these events, which happen from 1:00 - 3:30 every week and show a different, often unique flim. Extended lunch break, anyone? I’ll bring the popcorn.
If you have any interest in writing, or the publishing industry, don’t miss the annual Writer’s Weekend. On Saturday February 1st choose from a full day of programming all about writing, and writers. I attended this event last year, and it was a great opportunity to ask question of a real life editor, and listen to inspiring authors. Once again this day promises lots of opportunity for learning. Register online for the various presentations and workshops being offered.
Another exciting creative opportunity is the Arts Club. Happening Saturday mornings, this club connects those with an interest in the arts, and has a different theme or project each month. February 1st kicks things off with ‘Inspired Art Journals’.
And finally, as always, the central branch of the library has a huge array of material for you to borrow, as well as some great ‘hidden’ spaces, like the local history room, that are well worth checking out! (See what I did there?)
