Most Calgarians know that the Calgary Stampede takes place at the Stampede Grounds, just south of the downtown core. The grounds are where all the action happens, including the rodeo, midway and exhibition.
What you may not know is the Calgary Stampede Downtown Attractions committee hosts a number of interesting, fun and FREE events in the downtown core including Olympic Plaza and Stephen Avenue!
Beginning after the Stampede Parade at 11:15am on Friday, July 4th make your way down to Fluor Rope Square AKA Olympic Plaza for a free show by Drew Gregory & The Hired Guns. You can even grab a bite to eat at one of the many local food trucks that will be on site.
The fun continues on Saturday, July 5th from 9am to 12:15 pm with fun for the entire family.
Entertainment includes a daily First Nations parade down Stephen Avenue, Chuckwagon Breakfasts, the High Noon Hootenany, Square Dancing and the Fluor Old Time Horse Drawn Rigs.
The downtown attractions run Monday, July 7th to Friday, July 11th 9am to 1:115pm
More information and specific dates and times are available at Calgary Stampede Downtown Attractions website.
