May 14th, 2015 - On May 14, 2015, from 11am to 2pm, Arts Commons is going to come alive in a whole new way, with Happenings, an interactive Open House event. This is a chance to experience and engage with each of the resident companies in inspiring new ways.
Instead of the traditional venues that we use to present our programming, guests to the event will be led on a self-guided tour of the hallways, back stage passageways, nooks and crannies of Arts Commons as they become the stage for each of our resident companies.
May 13th, 2015 - The ProArts Society presents free concerts every Wednesday from 12:00 - 1:00pm in the Cathedral Church (corner of 1st Street and 7 Ave SE). Guests are welcome to bring their lunch, as it’s a casual concert series.
ProArts brings together artists and audiences in an historic venue at the heart of Calgary’s cultural district. Our non-profit organization provides talented individuals with showcasing opportunities through the ProArts Noon Concert Series, contributing to Calgary’s vibrant arts community through diverse performances year round.
May 16th, 2015 - A Regency costume ball for lovers of Jane Austen and Master and Commander. Dance like Darcy and laugh like Lizzy at Calgary’s most prestigious historic venue.
Grey Cup / Stampeders Photo Op
May 14th, 2015 - The Grey Cup will be in the Bankers Hall Main Level of Retail between 11:45 am and 12:45 pm on Thursday, May 14th. A photographer will be available to take your picture with the Grey Cup along with two of the Stampeders, Bo Levi Mitchell - Calgary Stampeders Quarterback and Corey Mace - Calgary Stampeders Defensive Tackle.
SCI-FI @ The Calgary Philharmonic
May 15 & 16, 2015 - Hollywood’s biggest adventure and sci-fi film themes are brought to life in a rousing orchestral salute to the music of tinsel town’s greatest composers including John Williams, Howard Shore, Alan Silvestri and Klaus Badelt. Blockbuster performances include multiple award winner Williams’ wildly popular themes for Star Wars, ET, and Jaws, Shore’s Lord of the Rings, Silvestri’s Back to the Future and Badelt’s Pirates of the Caribbean.
