Join us in Downtown Calgary as we welcome in 2016 with some great events! This year you have quite the selection; from the family-friendly events at Olympic Plaza and City Hall, to an event for singles looking to start the year with some perspective matches! Downtown is the original destination for upscale parties and it’s a great time to celebrate the seasons, whether you’re looking for glitz and glamour or just enjoying the sights and sounds of downtown.

City of Calgary New Year’s Eve Skating
- Ice Skating at Olympic Plaza: Bundle up for the weather and join the party outside at the Outdoor Celebration on Olympic Plaza starting at 8 p.m. Bring your skates or borrow from Skate Shack who will be onsite offering free rentals until 11:45 p.m., and take a spin on the ice. The festivities will include ice sculptures and live ice carving demonstrations, storytelling and bonfire songs by the fire pit, DJ music and entertainment with emcee Andrew Phung. Cap off the night by welcoming 2016 with a spectacular countdown to midnight featuring a video, light and laser show synchronized to music and fireworks!
City Hall Family Dance Party NYE
- For the young ones: Dress in neon or white and anything that glows and kick off the evening with a boogie at the Family Dance Party from 7 – 9 p.m. The Municipal Building (City Hall) becomes party central with music, stilt walkers, a magician and fire spinners. Party-goers can leave messages for 2016 on the glow-in-the-dark resolution wall, make a hand-made reminder of the night at the craft table, test their aiming skills for prizes at the beanbag toss and bounce their way through the inflatable obstacle course. There will be an under-5s’ play area for the littlest partiers and families can stay energized with free hot chocolate courtesy of Good Earth Cafe. The fun will finish with the always-popular kids’ countdown at 9 p.m.
Boardwalk Empire NYE Gala
- Atlantic City was the originator for glitz, gambling, liquor and sin; the prohibition era in AC gave birth to a time where anything you wanted was at your fingertips. We replicate this experience for you with our annual New Years Eve event. We invite you to a night filled with bright lights and no limits as you enter the world of elegance and glamour. Dress in your finest and expect to be seen as you dive into the boardwalk and experience the best of Atlantic City.

- Standard cordially invites you to AN ENCHANTED NEW YEARS EVE!!!! Join them for a night of enchanted magic with live entertainment and Music by DJ PHNM. General Admission: $35. VIP options also available.
NYE: Resolution at Flames Central
- Featuring some of Calgary’s top hip-hop DJs and turntablists including DJ AL. V and DJ C-SIK.
NYE at Below Deck Tavern
- Ring in 2016 at Below Deck Tavern with DJ Marty “The Party” Baceda spinning all night! A midnight toast, party favours, and a great DJ as we kick off 2016! Entry is $10 and provides access to Below Deck Tavern and The Libertine Public House.
NYE at the Libertine Public House
- Join us as we ring in 2016 with The Rondel Roberts Band, Sammy Jean & The Samsonites, and Melvina! Coer is just $10 and gets you access to the Below Deck Tavern as well.
Hot Mess @ National 8th Avenue
- Hot Mess NYE party! No cover, just show up and have a great time!
The Palomino Smokehouse NYE featuring Cowpuncher
- Celebrate the New Year with bands on both floors of the Palomino! Some of Calgary’s hardest rocking bands at a hot price! Tickets are just $13!
Cheers 2 New Year
- Step up to a traditional New Year’s Eve in Downtown Calgary December 31, 2015. Ring in the New Year at a formal Gala event at Westin Hotel. Proceeds to support Project Warmth. Event includes Champagne reception, 4 course dinner with wine, champagne at midnight, live 9 piece band featuring Suzie Q. After the event: Take the Elevator Home with a special room rate for all New Year’s Eve guests
FunnyFest NYE at the International Hotel
