Each year the High Performance Rodeo fills an important niche in Downtown Calgary’s art scene and 2016 is no exception.
For the uninitiated; the High Performance Rodeo is a month long festival of boundary-pushing theatre, music, dance, comedy and performance art. Now in it’s 30th year, the festival is internationally renowned for the fun, exciting and unexpected types of theatre they bring to Calgary.
The largest of it’s kind Western Canada, the High Performance Rodeo is an excellent opportunity to experience something unique. No two years are the same, and the month-long festival has a number of shows that run at a variety of downtown venues.
Be sure to get your tickets soon, many shows sell-out! That being said, there are a few free events that are open to the public including Improv Everywhere’s MP3 Experiment happening at Bankers Hall on Friday, January 15th. This is a unique event that you can participate in, don’t miss it!

To add to the fun, the songs have been arranged for the carillon and will be played noon hours all month from the Calgary Tower Carillon. This project kicks off the High Performance Rodeo and begins the officially proclaimed ‘Year of Music’ for 2016.
