Each year, the POW! Parade of Wonders sparks a whole new level of magic and excitement for cosplay fanatics, participants and even the everyday observer. Now in its fifth year, the POW! Parade of Wonders will continue to transform downtown into a land that is magnificently strange and surprising with special celebrity Expo guests, thousands of people in costumes, and thousands more observers witnessing the wonderment of the parade.
In addition to the variety of cosplay and celebrities to come in Friday’s parade, we have another surprise for you, Time and Relative Dimension in Space-a TARDIS.
The Doctor Who Site describes a TARDIS as “dimensionally transcendental”, which means that the inside of the space machine is bigger than the outside and by entering or exiting the machine will take you to a whole new world or dimension. If you’re still not sure what a TARDIS is, use your imagination and think of the Police call box where you basically can hop between worlds (that theoretically exist at the same time) just by walking in and out of the TARDIS. Pretty cool, right!
Through the magic of video, we wanted to show you exactly what it takes to construct the TARDIS. When you slow it down, you will be surprised to find out that it takes Edmontonian, Geoffrey, about 20-30 minutes to assemble.
The TARDIS will be found along the parade route just outside Phil & Sebastian Stephen Ave. of the historic Hudson Block, which is shared with ATB Financial (102 8 Avenue SW). Participants, observers, die-hard Doctor Who fans and wannabe time travellers are welcome to take photos of and with the life-sized TARDIS while on site April 28, 2017.
