We’ve all seen the release of the midway menu for Stampede this year and have already started to plan what new treats to test, to avoid, and to stock up on (obviously mini donuts!) for 2017.
But Stampede goes beyond the grounds. Chefs all over the city are starting to strut their stuff during Stampede with their very own Stampede menus.
Executive Chef Trevor Atamanchuk from The Palace Theatre (image above) has taken a few notes from the midway and will be showcasing his Stampede Patio menu on Canada Day.
The main focus for his food - grab and go!
Cowboy Nacho Walk ($7)
What’s better than sitting with a group of friends around a plate of nachos? How about being able to walk around with your own and they’re made with Doritos! You get your choice of Cool Ranch or Nacho Doritos topped with in-house pulled pork, freshly made guacamole and fire roasted salsa. A ton of flavour and no need to fight over that last bite!
House Smoked Brisket Sandwich ($9)
If you’re feeling a bit of hanger coming on (I know you’ve felt this before), you’ll quickly be satisfied with the House Smoked Brisket Sandwich. Alberta raised, house smoked brisket is piled on a Brioche bun with EZE beer cheese spread, spicy slaw and whiskey BBQ sauce.
Pork on a Bun ($7)
The Palace has put a twist on the standard Stampede pork on a bun. They’re version of traditional pulled pork includes spicy slaw and sweet and crispy onions for the ideal balance of sweet, savoury, spicy and just the right amount of crunch!
Grand Palace Dawg ($7)
A grown up version of the everyday hot dog. The Grand Palace Dawg is a 1/4 lb hot dog on a sesame bun topped with a compliment of spicy confit peppers and onions and finished with mesquite bacon.
For those with a simpler taste, there is a Plain Dawg for $5.
Whiskey BBQ Chicken Pops (3 pieces for $7)
If you’re anything like me, when you eat wings you always have both hands full of saucy goodness and lose your grip quick. With the Whiskey BBQ Chicken Pops, Trevor and his team have prepped the drummette meat to role back the right amount so you can hold it and eat it like a popsicle without all of the mess.
Glazed Bacon Mini Donuts (3 donuts for $5)
Chocolate + Mini Donuts + Bacon = Three of Calgarians’ favourite food groups during Stampede coming together to create a well-matched sweet and savoury treat. It’s the dessert you’ll want to end with - or ruin your dinner.
When you’re downtown on Canada Day, be sure to stop by The Palace Theatre patio and grab your Stampede street food as you venture around to all the Canada Day downtown events. If you miss it, they’ll be back on Stephen Avenue in front of The Palace during Stampede.
Stay tuned for updates on their schedule and other events happening downtown during Stampede.
