Calgary Bluesfest 2017 features a full week of Blues, with workshops, concerts and special events culminating in 4 days and nights of non-stop music at Shaw Millennum Park followed by the nightly Twilight Blues Series. This Festival is family friendly with an arts market, beer garden, festival souvenirs, YYC trucks and more!

Tuesday through Thursday, stop by on your lunch hour at the Stephen Avenue Summer Stage to enjoy amazing local and international talent.
The Stephen Avenue Walk Summer Stage also presents the “Monday Blues” series curated by Calgary International Blues Festival, every Monday (accept August 7th) from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm till end of August, and DJ Tom Mannix on select Saturdays from 1:00pm to 4:00pm also through the end of August.

FLOATING LANTERN PEACE CEREMONY | August 5, 2022
Imagine a world at peace. Imagine no fear of nuclear weapons because they no longer exist. Imagine an event that planted a seed of hope which grew into fruition.
Join the fifth annual ‘Floating Lantern Peace Ceremony’ taking place around the pool at Calgary’s Olympic Plaza on Stephen Avenue. Everybody is invited. Hundreds of beautiful lanterns will be released as people think of their own loved ones and the hundreds of thousands affected by the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Lanterns available for rent.
Music starts at 8:00 pm with the ceremony from 8:30 pm to 9:20 pm. Program includes Anthony Burbidge, an award winning musician, multicultural children’s choirs and drama, speakers recently honoured by the United Nations, greetings from mayors of cities around the world and more.

PUT THE “HER” IN HERITAGE | Now through end of August
Celebrating the stories of women in this exhibition for Canada’s 150.
Arts Commons is happy to welcome three unique exhibits to the Window Galleries. Focusing on alternative narratives and giving voice to those who might have been excluded from the first 150 years. Window Galleries this summer will focus on the telling of women’s stories of their relationships, hopes, communicating and the strength of perseverance through adversity. These 3 exhibitions show the tenderness and strength of personal and cultural history, featuring the artists Hannah Doerksen, Nicole Kelly Westman, Areum Kim, and sisters Brittney and Richelle Bear Hat.
The Window Galleries are located across from Max Bell Theatre in Arts Commons (205 8 Ave SE).

MADE WITH LOVE is the annual event that allows you to discover what your city’s craft cocktail scene has to offer. It is at the Fairmont Palliser that 16 of the city’s most talented Barchefs will present a unique and original cocktail and food-pairing creation in view of being crowned Calgary’s BEST Barchef for 2017!
