It’s back! Big Taste YYC, one of Calgary’s premier foodie festivals, starts March 2. Involving signature events and over 90 participating restaurants, this 10-day festival is not to be missed - so get ready to eat!
If you like good food, you’ll love The Big Taste. With fixed price menus ranging from $18 lunches to $65 gourmet dinners from over 90 restaurants, there’s something on the list for everyone. In addition to reservations available throughout the 10 days, each day of the festival features at least one special culinary event.
Beginning with a wine-themed kick off lunch at Blink Restaurant and Bar, the party carries over to a gorgeous Saturday brunch at River Cafe, with a Turf Club Pop-up experience at Model Milk later that evening.
Chef Matthias Fong, River Cafe
Rounding out the first weekend is a French feast at Avec Bistro - but with Big Taste, you don’t have to keep your fun to the weekend! Go retro on Monday with a tasting menu from Bridgette Bar and explore contemporary Vietnamese dishes at Foreign Concept on Tuesday.
Chef Derek Wilkins, The Wednesday Room
Wednesdays are tough and you’ll be looking for another pick-me-up, so join us at The Wednesday Room for a four-course tasting menu to lift your spirits. Follow that with a walking tour Thursday evening, visiting Calgary classics Murrieta’s, Klein/Harris and Thomsons. For Friday, there’s nothing like a opera room lunch at Teatro to get the weekend started early.
Chef Matthew Batey, Teatro Group
Kick off the weekend Friday night with a Mexican-inspired Cocina Party at CHARCUT Roast House. Slow it down Saturday at The Tastemarket by SAIT with an interactive dinner giving you the opportunity to watch chefs at work in their own stations. Finally, shut it down on Sunday with our fun Finale Dinner at Workshop Kitchen & Culture.
